Week one

Well, week one of the semester has certainly been a change of pace, which is exactly what I was looking for I guess. Having only 6 hours of class a week feels a little bit weird, but being a natural overcommitter I think I’ve found other things to occupy my extra time (i.e. work, studying for the MCAT, TAing for Bio 108, etc.)  I’ve decided to look at the rate of incidence of malaria in mosuqitoes in Panama by salivary gland analysis for my research project. I’ve found a few good protocals for the dissection, so now Chad and I are just trying to locate some mosquitoes so we can practice our technique. Basically, you pull off the mosquito’s head and then push the salivary glands out of the thorax……sounds easy enough, right?
